Though it’s hard for me to pick which of the bands I’D want to win the MOST.   I think my longterm alliances lie pretty firmly with LCD Soundsystem, Wilco and Arcade Fire. But there are so many others I think deserve it as well, and even more in the LONG LIST!!

  1. I know I comment on your blog like 9 times a day, but I just gotta, it’s a good blog, keep it up. K?

It’s really hard to see past what on the list is “British Media Hype” (klaxons, calvin harris) and what is really going to last. Of the stuff that is really going to last, it’s also hard to see past the bands that are just remaking their old albums, or are so good, the albums are making lists, but the music is uninspired.

Strawberry Jam from Animal Collective was on repeat in my iPod for a long ass time, but being AC’s most accessible album, it is missing the psych freakouts that I wanted. Where the hell is panda bear on this list? There is a kid who is moving.

Wilco is another tough bet for me. Sure, the album was beautiful and technical, I bought it and enjoyed it. However, I listened to it a grand total of only a few times and heard everything I’ve heard before. It’s probably just me getting more and more in to electronic music, but I find that Digitalism kicks Feist’s ass (sorry Leslie) as I haven’t heard much of that “rock-no” sound, but I’ve heard the “Girl with guitar” sound in to the ground.

    Taking directly from that list:
    Sound of Silver
    23
    Strawberry Jam
    Neon Bible
    Cross

    Honourable mention:
    Hissing Fauna
    Because of the times
In our bedroom after the war

LCD Soundsystem is THE band that got me hooked on electronic music as of late as well. ‘Sky Blue Sky’ was an wicked album, but I don’t think its their best in comparison with Yankee Foxtrot, Ghost is Born, Summer Teeth, or their live album. Wilco still remains one of my top 3 favorite bands though 🙂
And well… I can’t say anything bad about Arcade Fire, they’re just so amazing.
It’s a toss up for me still… probably between Neon Bible and Sound of Silver.

AND… thanks for religiously posting on my blog, I read yours everyday too, I’m just an introvert so I don’t comment ALL the time 😉

  3. If they go with something fresh, which they should, it ought to be:
    1. Lcd Soundsytem
    2. Justice
    3. Burial
    4. M.I.A.

  5. im loving against me’s new wave. it’s a different sound than they started out with but good music is good music after all. They have a new kyte video blog which has proven to be an entertaining way to watch the band in their natural habitat and get the inside scoop of some of their performances from the road. check it out on their myspace.
